Preparation Time: 10 minutes
Cooking Time: 10 minutes
Total Time: 20 minutes
Serves: 2
Ingredients
3 medium boiled potatoes (mashed)
2 cup gram flour (besan)
2 medium onion (finely chopped)
2 green chili (finely chopped)
¼ teaspoon turmeric powder
½ teaspoon red chili powder
Salt to taste
Fresh coriander leaves (finely chopped)
Water as required (to make a smooth batter)
Oil for shallow frying
1. Prepare the Batter:
In a large mixing bowl, add besan, mashed potatoes, chopped onions, green chili, turmeric, red chili powder, salt, and coriander leaves.
Gradually add water while stirring to make a smooth, thick batter — not too runny.
2. Heat the Pan:
Place a non-stick tawa or flat pan on medium flame. Lightly grease it with a few drops of oil.
3. Cook the Chilla:
Pour a ladleful of batter onto the pan and spread it gently in a circular motion, like a pancake.
Drizzle a few drops of oil around the edges and cook for 2–3 minutes on each side until golden brown.
4. Serve Hot:
Once crisp and golden, remove from the pan and serve immediately with mint chutney or tomato ketchup.
Serving Suggestion
