In this blog post, you’ll learn how to make crispy and tasty Aloo Tikki step by step, along with tips, variations, and serving suggestions.

Ingredients (for 8–10 Tikkis)
4 medium potatoes, boiled and mashed
2 tablespoons breadcrumbs (or roasted suji for binding)
1 small onion, finely chopped
2 green chilies, finely chopped
1 teaspoon ginger paste
2 tablespoons fresh coriander leaves, chopped
½ teaspoon red chili powder
½ teaspoon garam masala
½ teaspoon cumin powder
½ teaspoon chaat masala
Salt to taste
2 tablespoons cornflour (for crispness)
2–3 tablespoons oil (for shallow frying)
Step 1: Prepare the Potatoes
Boil the potatoes until soft. Peel and mash them well, ensuring no lumps remain. Smooth potatoes make perfect tikkis.
Step 2: Make the Mixture
In a large bowl, add mashed potatoes, onion, green chilies, ginger paste, coriander leaves, and all the dry spices. Mix well. Add breadcrumbs and cornflour for binding. Combine until everything comes together.
Step 3: Shape the Tikkis
Take a small portion of the mixture and roll it into a ball. Gently flatten it into a round tikki (patty). Repeat for the rest of the mixture.
